According to the Việt Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP), in the first six months of this year, the shrimp export value reached about US$1.6 billion, up six per cent year on year.
Once the preliminary determinations are published to the Federal Register, importers will be required to place cash deposits equal to the rates determined by the DOC for up to four months.
To further increase the value of shrimp and to have sustainable shrimp industry development, localities, especially Mekong Delta provinces, need to pay attention to developing high-quality seed sources to have proactive production, reduce production cost and limit diseases.
Shrimp prices in the world market have gradually decreased since the end of 2022. For instance, at the end of February 2023, the price of Indian shrimp was at VND110,000 (US$4.53) per kilo.
Vietnamese enterprises should foster their shrimp exports to the United
Kingdom as exports to other markets were tending to slow down, the Viet
Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (Vasep) has
suggested.
The Viet Nam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) has
predicted the total shrimp export value for this whole year will to
US$2.9 billion due to various difficulties.
